The SAA Council approved in January creation of two joint task forces with the Rare Books and Manuscripts Section (RBMS) of the Association of College and Research Libraries:
- SAA-ACRL/RBMS Joint Task Force on the Development of Standardized Holdings Counts and Measures for Archival Repositories and Special Collections Libraries and
- SAA-ACRL/RBMS Joint Task Force on the Development of Standardized Statistical Measures for Public Services in Archival Repositories and Special Collections Libraries.
Both groups are charged for a two-year period that begins in September 2014 and continues through SAA’s 2016 Annual Meeting. Both are made up of 10 individuals, with equal representation by each organization. See the descriptions below for more information.
SAA Vice President Kathleen Roe seeks volunteers for the five SAA slots on each task force. If you’re interested in serving, include in an email message directed to saahq@archivists.org the following information: Your full name, title, and institution; a brief summary of your experience within SAA and the profession; and a statement of interest in and qualifications for serving on one of the two task forces (specifically related to your background and experience or a particular interest in the subject matter). Please use the following subject line: Volunteer for [Joint Task Force on Holdings Counts] or [Joint Task Force on Statistical Measures] (Your Last Name). Deadline: Tuesday, May 6. SAA membership is required for appointment as an SAA representative on the task forces.
