Program Philosophy

The Library and Information Science (LIS) Program contributes to the essential knowledge, skills, and values of librarianship and the information professions through research, education, and outreach.

Facilities

SISLT is home to multiple learning laboratories where graduate students gain hands-on experience with the technologies and theories used in their fields. The MLIS program may be completed online or in Columbia, MO, where most library and information science faculty are based, with clinical faculty in St. Louis and Kansas City, and Program Liaisons in Springfield and Omaha, NE.

Practicum/Internships/Assistantships Offered?

We require all students to complete a two- or three-hour practicum as part of the degree. The practicum provides real-world experience in libraries and information agencies.

Research
